Goudappels plot

All parents, children and grandparents of 'Oogappels' close the year in style in the end-of-year film 'Goudappels'. Everyone is preparing for a festive evening. Although New Year's Eve also makes some people a bit despondent. They all experience the midnight hour in their own way. Time to take stock and for good intentions. What has the past year brought? And what does the coming year have in store? Will New Year's Eve go as expected for everyone?

Oogappels' greatest strength lies in its recognizability, because this series does not rely on cliffhangers or exciting storylines. But the absence of 'how will this end?' or 'who could be behind it?' started to get to me at some point. After 3 seasons I dropped out.

Malou Gorter as Merel plays fantastically, no doubt about it, but I have seen her roll her eyes 600 times now, especially in combination with her happy neighbor, a scene that is also repeated a dozen times. It all leads nowhere and new stories keep coming up, which causes the same little quarrels over and over again, now Merel's daughter is pregnant and you can sense how Merel is going to react to that.

The storyline with the gallery owner started off so nicely, but was quickly cut short.

But maybe I'm being a bit too bitter, because the series has its heart in the right place (I also love Merel's vegan oliebollen) and towards the end it became moving again.
