Reasonable film about Mary who gives birth to Jesus through an immaculate conception. A beautiful and well-known Bible story that is told here at a fairly calm pace. For me as a non-believer it may have less meaning. The entire setting is well taken care of and the film also looks beautiful.

I won't quickly choose a Biblical film adaptation, but this one came out on Netflix and we are in the run-up to Christmas, so yes, I was in the right mood. Also the fact that this story was unknown to me, attracted my curiosity. As far as Biblical is concerned, I only know the birth of Jesus and the stories that follow it, but not what preceded the birth. Since I am not a Bible expert either, I do not know whether this story is Biblical, but it was a pleasant story.

Decors beautiful and acting performances decent. The fact that Sir Anthony Hopkins also cooperates here brings the film to a reasonable level. Content-wise, also getting to know a new story. So all in all a reasonable success. 3*

Ouch. Boring especially. The decor is okay but visually very poor with many dark spaces. The acting is also not that great. Cohen has to make do with English and does not do that great and Hopkins plays yet another similar role and does not really convince even though he has his charisma on his side. I had the idea anyway that the main characters are a bit too much people from today who act as if they lived 2000 years ago, it did not really become believable. 1.5*.
