The Invasion plot
The film observes the daily life of a country at war in scenes without commentary. The prologue follows the mourning ceremony for four fallen soldiers for fifteen minutes, setting the tone for what is to come: a film in which the war is visible and tangible in every aspect of everyday life. Images of schoolchildren in a bomb shelter, convalescing soldiers with amputated limbs and a flat building that has been shot to pieces where rescue workers desperately search for survivors. But the misery of war is also palpable at a wedding, where the groom wears a soldier's uniform. What does the future hold for this bridal couple?
