Árva plot
In the aftermath of the Hungarian uprising in 1956, we follow twelve-year-old Andor. He has never known his deceased father, but through what his mother told him, Andor idealizes the man. When a brutal and unknown person enters his life and introduces himself as his father, Andor discovers the truth behind his mother's survival during World War II.

Believing his father died a heroic death during World War II, Andor [Bojtorján Barabas] spends years in an orphanage. In 1957, shortly after the Hungarian Uprising, his Jewish mother [Andrea Waskovics] takes him in. She considers marrying the butcher [Grégory Gadebois] with whom she was in hiding during the war. Gradually, Andor discovers the truth about what really happened during the war. A meticulously produced and beautifully filmed historical drama featuring excellent work by Gadebois as Andor's future stepfather. The main problem is Andor, who is angry at the world from beginning to end. His temper tantrums evoke little sympathy and also reveal a lack of personal development.
