Isleen Pines plot

In a small town, everyone gathers for the annual Halloween party and costume contest. On his way to the party, however, one of them finds something strange on the sidewalk. When he touches it, he is infected with something otherworldly. Soon, partygoers go missing and a sinister creature crashes the party, killing everyone in its path.

Directing duo Matthew Festle and Alexys Paonessa deliver a film where the best ideas are saved for the very last few minutes, because only then do they grasp the mission that Isleen Pines is little more than entertainment value. Essentially, everything before that point is superfluous, with too many different characters undergoing too much development. Moreover, many of these cast members aren't particularly skilled actors, but thankfully, Naiia Lajoie is a positive exception. The practical effects are welcome, and there are some decent moments here and there, but most of them are somewhat poor and unremarkable. The creature, in particular, looks awful.
