Rembrandt's Night Watch has enchanted and intrigued its audience for almost 400 years. An undisputed masterpiece by one of the greatest painters of all time. Journalist Coen Verbraak talks to the most important characters in the famous painting. Who are those people on that imposing canvas? The captain, the lieutenant, the standard-bearer, the drummer, the golden girl: they all come to his table. Rembrandt, the master himself, also talks about his life and the circumstances under which his most important work was created.

Very successful, more serious and more mature variation on the concept that started in 2012 with Welcome to the Golden Age and originally aimed to introduce children to history in a light-hearted way. Master interviewer Coen Verbraak shows no trace of irony and with his characteristic friendly decisiveness helps the cast to engage their characters (who are all directly related to the painting 'The Night Watch') in a completely natural and open conversation. Captain Frans Banninck Cocq [René van Zinnicq Bergman], lieutenant Willem van Ruytenburch [Joris Smit], flag bearer Jan Visscher Cornelisen [Minne Koole], marksman Jan van der Heede [Tijn Docter] and drummer Jacob Jorisz [Ruben Brinkman] tell their story. Of course, Rembrandt van Rijn [Ramsey Nasr] and Saskia Uylenburgh [Anna Raadsveld] also have their say. Everything you could wish for from a Rembrandt docudrama with a wonderful cast.
