Old-fashioned retelling of the life of Jesus Christ is approved by 'The Angel Guild', an American club that produces family-friendly (read: fundamentalist Christian) films. How ironic that Charles Dickens [Kenneth Branagh], one of the greatest fiction writers of all time, is the narrator of the gospel and that he emphasizes that the legend of King Arthur is based on the life story (or is it the legend) of Jesus Christ. The frame story (in which Dickens tells the story to his son Walter [Roman Griffin Davis]) at least prevents it from becoming too preachy. It is strange that the backgrounds are very detailed and realistic, while the characters look simplistic and lifeless. But the film versions from 1927 and 1961 are a lot better.
