Apollo 13: Survival plot

In April 1970, just nine months after Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, NASA faced its greatest crisis of all: three American astronauts were halfway to the moon when their craft was struck by an explosion. NASA immediately had to figure out how to get the rocket, which had lost power and oxygen and was no longer functioning properly, back to Earth. This documentary tells the story of the mission through archival footage and audio from the launch, the shuttle, and NASA's mission control center.

Beautifully shot documentary. Of course not comparable to a feature film, but here you could feel the real tension. And of course with the real images and interviews... Only for lovers of this genre. 3.5*

Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert's attempt to land on the moon for the third time took a completely different turn due to an explosion on the way there. What initially seemed like a failed mission turned into something entirely different, as the attempts to bring the crew back alive were followed around the world.
