Beautiful drama.
It took a while, but Yamanaka has finally released her second film. It's a somewhat heavier drama, mainly because the main characters aren't exactly the most sociable people. Young people struggling with themselves, often venting their anger at the world around them. While it's not a violent or nihilistic film, it remains very clearly a drama.
The 4:3 aspect ratio is a bit annoying, but the soundtrack thankfully makes up for it. The acting is excellent, and despite the long running time, I wasn't bored for a moment. A beautiful film, therefore, that confirms Yamanaka's talent. Hopefully, she's finally truly launched.
