Who Were We? plot

Kii works as a cleaner on Sado Island at a gold mine. One day, she finds a collapsed woman who can't remember anything, including her name. She is temporarily called Midori and is given permission to work as a cleaner as well. Later, she meets night watchman Ao, who tells her that he can't remember his past either. This draws them to each other and they spend time together.

Great movie.

No idea why it's shot in 4:3. Doesn't look good, only point of criticism. Too bad because the cinematography is otherwise great. Beautiful setting, framing and use of color/light is excellent. The score is also on par, although not the most original.

Furthermore, two very strong actors, a mysterious (but fairly predictable) setup and an arthouse atmosphere that flows nicely. It's been a while since I was able to fully enjoy a film like this, Tomina can make more (but then in a normal screen format pls.
