Riff Raff plot

Ever since he fell in love with Sandy, the one-time criminal Vince has been on the right path. Almost 20 years later, the couple wants to celebrate a quiet New Year's Eve in their country house with their son DJ. These plans fall through when Vince's other son Rocco unexpectedly shows up with his pregnant girlfriend Marina and Vince's first wife Ruth. The meeting is not cordial, Rocco has a sinister surprise in store and on top of that, the mafia member Lefty also knocks on the door. He swears revenge.

Sandy [Gabrielle Union] and Vincent [Ed Harris]'s quiet life is shaken by the unexpected arrival of Vincent's son Rocco [Lewis Pullman], his heavily pregnant girlfriend [Emanuela Postacchini] and his unpredictable mother [Jennifer Coolidge]. Hannigan [Bill Murray] and his henchman Lonnie [Peter Davidson] are also on their way for a surprise visit, hoping to settle an old score with Vincent. Colorful characters played by a fine cast, but the plot is on the thin side and lacks any big surprises.

A good film about a family celebrating New Year's Eve until their other son suddenly appears. A fine family drama/crime film with a touch of black comedy. This does make the tone a bit unbalanced. However, the film remains entertaining, and the relationships are quite well-developed. The cast, which includes a fair number of familiar names, also makes up for a lot. A small 3.5 stars.

Mainly saw it for Bill Murray, but unfortunately, he's not in the film much. A bit of a slow film, but entertaining nonetheless.
