Japan with a pinch of American nepotism.

Sora is the son of Ryuichi Sakamoto, and grew up partly in the US. That the film seems of higher quality than most films by first-timers is therefore not surprising, that there are somewhat different themes in the film is also no surprise. But Sora does manage to find a nice balance, which makes it feel more like an evolution of the Japanese drama.

Actors do well, visually it is neat and nice that the soundtrack contains some beats for once. The mix of genre and drama is also interesting, where the genre elements mainly provide the framework, while the drama clearly remains central. Fine, powerful film.
