Inspired by Napster, Japanese software developer Isamu Kaneko [Masahiro Higashide] developed Winny, his own program for sharing files via a P2P network. On November 27, 2003, the Japanese police arrested a number of people who were using Winny for illegal purposes. Officer Sembi [Kôsuke Suzuki] decides to arrest Kaneko as well, even though the rule in law is that the creator is not responsible for what users do with his creation. That is why lawyer Dan Tosthimitsu [Takahiro Miura] decides to take on the case. But Isamu has been fooled by the police and signs documents that make it much more difficult to enforce an acquittal. An interesting piece of history for computer nerds, but the basic premise is visually not very interesting. Lots of talking heads, and Matsumoto owes it mainly to the beautiful interplay between Higashide and Miura that it does not get boring.
