Reasonable film about a small community in Oklahoma that is confronted with sandstorms. It takes a while for the film to really get going (mainly because of the editing). This unusual horror film does have a nice setting (Oklahoma during the dust bowl) that largely determines the atmosphere.

The idea behind the film is very cool. The acting is completely fine. The visuals are sometimes beautiful and sometimes ugly. The main problem with Hold Your Breath is simply that it has become an extremely boring film. It was just waiting for it to end. Nothing cool is done with the concept and nothing is done to give the film that little bit more spice to be fun. Now it is not entertaining, there is nothing special in it, the twist does not work. The film does not make an impact on any level.

A visually stunning Western film with both drama and horror on the sidelines, although directing duo Karrie Crouse and Will Joines reveal early on that Hold Your Breath has a double layer. As a viewer, you spend the entire film waiting for a plot twist that's bound to happen, which ultimately proves somewhat disappointing. Fortunately, the atmosphere is decent, and the fictional legend is handled well. The unfortunate thing is that there's too little emphasis on the final suspense, despite both the cast and the resources available to achieve it. This makes for a disappointing reunion with a basic level of quality.
