Documentary about the world-famous singer Céline Dion, who sold 250 million records and has now lost her voice. She could always rely on it blindly, until SDS came into her life. This neurological condition, which can cause stiffness and spasms, first showed up in Céline about seventeen years ago. In this documentary she also looks back on her childhood with thirteen brothers and sisters in Charlemagne, the arrival of her children and the death of her husband.

Canadian pop diva and “queen of the power ballad” Celine Dion canceled a season of performances in Las Vegas in 2021. She had been struggling with health problems for some time, but this documentary shows that for a long time she did not tell the full truth about the nature of those problems and why she did not dare to be honest about them for a long time. Dion retreated to her home for a year to care for her twin sons Eddy and Nelson, hoping that she would find a way to sing and perform at an acceptable level again. Dion talks emotionally about her highs and lows, but Taylor relies heavily on archive footage that confirms what most viewers already know: that Dion was a sublime singer and entertainer for decades. The excess of music comes at the expense of depth and results in an endless loop that draws a contrast between the Celine of the past and that of today. But the final 15 minutes – which follow on from the prologue – are extremely difficult to watch and demonstrate how devastating the rare disease SPS can be to the body and mind.

Sincere, confrontational documentary about the health problems of the world-famous singer, who has been suffering from the neurological condition SPS (Stiff Person Syndrome) for a long time. The scenes in which she struggles with the severe spasms caused by the condition hit her hard and are difficult to watch. Respect therefore for Dion's openness and perseverance. The look back at her career is unfortunately less interesting, partly because I don't like her music, but all in all this is a fascinating, shocking portrait of a superstar who paid a high price for her success.
