What if you love your child, but are unhappy in your role as a mother? This is a documentary about mothers who, if they had the choice again, would rather not be mothers. Director Milou Gevers spoke to dozens of mothers and found three women willing to speak honestly about this.

Three women of different ages and with different backgrounds spoke anonymously with Milou Gevers about the fact that they regret motherhood. Gevers, who had just become a mother when she started this project, depicts the mothers as dolls and uses stop-motion, among other things, to portray their experiences. The mothers try to explain that their regrets are completely separate from motherhood, but that proves difficult to explain. A taboo subject that Gevers rightly and honestly tries to break, but the form regularly distracts from the content. This probably would have been more effective as a radio documentary. That does not alter the fact that this is a good way to discuss the conversation about parenthood, the imposed expectations and, above all, their impact openly and honestly.
