Buthan is one of the happiest countries in the world and that is not just a feeling, but it is objectively stated. How do you measure happiness and how do you reach a population that often lives remote and without internet? In Buthan they employ "happiness agents" who travel to the most remote villages to question the population's sense of happiness.

Druk Gyalpo has been the (dragon) king of Bhutan since 2006 and regularly commissions citizen surveys to measure Gross National Happiness. Amber and Guna are among the 75 civil servants who travel the country to perform these measurements. This documentary follows the pair during their meetings and conversations with residents and shows the 'happiness score' that the interviewees achieved based on a list of 149 questions in 8 categories. The idea of measuring the success of your country based on happiness instead of Gross National Product is well-intentioned, but when Bhattarai and Zurbó delve into some of the interviewees (and Amber), measuring happiness turns out to be not so easy. Beautiful portrait of a special culture shows the contrast between the city and the countryside from a unique perspective and with a pleasant dose of ironic humor. Fascinating and very entertaining.
