Disappointing sequel to Boys State (2020) follows a group of 500 adolescent women from Missouri who are challenged to participate in a 'democratic laboratory' for a week. As with the young men in Boys State, the goal is to set up a democratic body, including a Governor and a Supreme Court. McBaine and Moss follows a number of women who have run for office, but instead of focusing on how these young women debate and campaign, it focuses mainly on the abortion issue (Roe v Wade) and the differences with the 'Boys State' which takes place a little further away. And I don't understand why everyone sings along to that terrible, corny anthem - not to mention the K3 dance they have to do along with it.
