On a winter's day on the Arctic Circle in Sweden, 9-year-old Elsa sees a man brutally kill her most beloved reindeer. The police refuse to do anything, while for the Sámi, the original inhabitants, an attack on their reindeer is an attack on their culture. Ten years later, hatred and discrimination against the Sámi has only increased and even more reindeer have been brutally slaughtered. Elsa has had enough and decides to do something against the apathetic police. But then the killer comes after Elsa herself. And that leads to a disastrous confrontation.

Very mediocre Netflix production again. Plenty of potential, but poorly developed. Fairly saltless film. The Samen community is certainly a very interesting culture. Just like so many indigenous peoples, they have often been misunderstood and oppressed. And still very local here and there.
It's always fascinating to be able to catch that little cultural piece through film. Wonderful images also there in the north of Sweden. Definitely worth taking part in that regard. Poor content. I also didn't really understand why one had to make a leap of 10 years. The theme of illegal hunting is fascinating, but it is barely highlighted here.

A political film about standing up for your rights. Character development would have been appropriate; now it remains a bit too flat. Good performances by Oskal and Pittja. The music is top-notch.

Twenty years ago, Elsa [Elin Oskal] witnessed Robert [Martin Wallström] killing reindeer out of resentment toward the Sami people (the indigenous inhabitants of Lapland/Same Land), to which she belongs.
