"Land of the Free...Home of the Depraved!"
The year is 1976. A group of people are in a desert for a photo shoot. They discover an abandoned town called Savage. What they don't know, however, is that they are not alone. A family of masked psychopaths lives in the town and is not happy with the invaders.

At the beginning, with the two ladies, you have the highlight of the film. After that, you can turn the film off.

On paper, Brute 1976 has enough potential to be a brutal, bloody horror film, but director Marcel Walz, despite a few grimy ideas, manages to be rather tame. However, it's primarily the cast that lets it down, with a bunch of uninteresting main characters and their less-than-frightening adversaries. These creeps are quite diverse, but are barely given the space to do anything with their presence. The setting is otherwise quite enjoyable, the atmosphere works well despite the financial constraints, and the murder in which someone's meaty penis is drilled is exceptionally brutal, but it doesn't achieve any real highlights. Towards the finale, Walz shifts his film's tone a bit, but the conclusion remains unsatisfying.
