"The true story of the men who inspired Masters of the Air."

This documentary centers on the young Americans who were part of the 100th Bomb Group, also known as the 'Bloody Hundreth', during World War II. Struggling with the icy conditions, the pilots had to conduct dangerous bombing raids over Nazi Germany. The film highlights the true stories of the pilots and portrays the psychological and emotional price they paid.

The Bloody Hundredth is a documentary, somewhat hidden after the end of the Masters of the Air series. This new documentary following the same Masters of the Air, adds the necessary context that I felt was missing from the miniseries. The documentary is designed in the Band of Brothers style where the actual soldiers of yesteryear talk about the period in the 'Air Force' of WW2 with passion, sadness, frustration, but also to their heart's content. Linked to original images with the additional quiet 'radio voice' of Tom Hanks.

It provides a thorough look at warfare and its impact on the lives of the soldiers and those involved, with the original raw image of the actual war. It confirms my opinion that the sweetness of the Masters of the Air series has been consciously created. Partly because in 2024 nothing should be reflected in the harsh reality anymore, and everything must be smoothed out because someone could be held accountable.......... Or at the request of Apple+ to the current measures of diversity and inclusion. Who knows.

Once again I respect everyone's opinion and the fun or entertainment with the Masters of the Air series. I find Masters of the Air abhorrent. These soldiers also fought for our freedom and are far too romanticized and the war is shown far too positively and one-sided. You can't do that to these soldiers. Freedom fighters deserve much more and not this messy, overly positive, romanticized series. I give this documentary the maximum number of stars, if only because these fighters deserve it 100%.
