Very nice.

A somewhat more classic Japanese drama, think of the films that were popular around the turn of the century. A bit more stylized, with a lot of attention to color, composition and also a more striking soundtrack. The future of Japanese cinema this is not, but a delicious piece of quality.

Acting performances are also worth it, the focus is spread over different characters which makes the film relatively long and somewhat fragmented, but the overarching theme is strong enough to hold the attention. Remarkably strong film by Narushima.

4.0* and an extensive review
