Debut feature film for Vandekerckhove? I already knew Rabot, the documentary about the run-down Ghent district. Great that she managed to get Matteo Simoni for this film project. Also with Thibaud Dooms a familiar face, the latter played the intense lead role in Koen Mortiers Skunk.

Solid film about the difficult relationship between a father and his deaf son. Difficult to assess the father. Loving, yes, but the pedagogical qualities to raise caring and empathetic is a bridge too far.

A story on the fringes of working-class culture and social housing estates, this in stark contrast to the life of the bourgeois daughter-mother in the stately villa a few streets away. Milano's mother is not doing much better.

Acting is decent. Camera work is the same, although some scenes were shot messily. Overall, a beautiful coming of age drama that leaves you with a bitter feeling.

The hearing-impaired Milano [Basil Wheatley] is raised by his father [Matteo Simoni] who struggles to make ends meet. Milano has a better relationship with Alain's girlfriend Renee [Alexia Depicker]. Milano's life takes a difficult turn when Alain unexpectedly introduces him to his biological mother [Take Nicolaï], who was a minor when she gave birth. He also ends up in the drug world as a courier for the intimidating Jeffrey [Thibaud Dooms]. Atmospheric, intelligent family drama in which the strong acting Simoni and Nicolaï stand in stark contrast to the listless, indifferent-looking Wheatley
