Rukku Bakku plot

"Manga drew them together. Life made them best friends."

Student Ayumu Fujino regularly draws comics for her school newspaper and is praised as the best in her class. One day she has to give up her spot so that the truant Kyomoto can post his drawings. Fujino becomes jealous when their work is compared and Kyomoto is praised. She refuses to be defeated by him and devotes her life to drawing comics. As Fujino is about to graduate, the two come face to face. Their unexpected encounter will ultimately have consequences far beyond what either of them could have predicted.

While Iranian films are often better than you expect, Japanese anime films often disappoint me: I think this one wants to say something about the need for manga (art) to express an otherwise closed inner self, but the story is not interesting enough and the meaning is too vague to make an impression.

Beautiful film and also moving at least for half an hour. After that the film becomes a bit more magical and imaginative and sometimes I just don't like that as much. That was the case with this film. The first half hour that revolves around everyday life, the meeting of the girls, their togetherness and that supported by beautiful images (the everyday becomes enchanting in animation) and with that musical accompaniment. The beautiful images remain (when that ambulance drives away in the snow, that looks great) but in terms of emotional impact the film became a lot less so that even that hour felt a bit long in the end. Rounded up, a solid pass: 3.5*.

Every now and then a Japanese anime is okay without saying that I am an unconditional fan. As always beautifully designed and some pictures look really good. Quite limited playing time with less than an hour.

Less blown away in terms of content. Various emotions are processed in the plot from jealousy to ultimately friendship and appreciation. Still fun to pick up.
