Alma lives alone in her townhouse, Mina is a single mother from the suburbs. Both have built their lives around the absence of their spouses who are serving a sentence in the same prison. During a visit, the ladies meet each other and become friends.

Alma [Isabelle Huppert] visits the prison where her husband [Magne-Håvard Brekke] is held every week. Mina [Hafsia Herzi] is not allowed to visit her husband [Lionel Dray]. Mina has traveled 5 hours, Alma lives in a spacious house nearby and she offers Alma a place to stay. Despite the differences in culture, history and personal circumstances, a friendship develops between the two women. A coincidence puts that friendship in jeopardy. With her subtle but deeply layered performance, Huppert once again proves to be one of the greatest actresses of her generation. Herzi holds her own in this indictment of a society in which your opportunities (even for criminals) depend on your wealth or status. But it also shows why it is almost impossible to build a bridge between the social classes on your own.
