Hell Camp: Teen Nightmare plot

This documentary is about former commando Steve Cartisano, who founded a wilderness therapy program in the 1990s. Parents paid him to kidnap their out-of-control teenage children from their beds and then force them to trek through the boiling Utah wilderness for 63 days. Through mental and physical torment, Cartisano would achieve something approaching a spiritual revelation. However, the death of a teenage girl immediately put an end to Cartisano's practices.

What a terribly bad documentary, it must have been horrible, but I don't see enough evidence. And it has nothing to do with it, but I'll say it anyway, some people should think twice before having children, because making them is nice, but raising them can be done for much less...

When Paris Hilton revealed in 2020 that she had been a victim of inappropriate behavior at a boot camp, she set off a wave of revelations from fellow sufferers. Steve Cartisano was the driving force behind the lengthy "expeditions" through which he offered "derailed young people" a rite of passage into adulthood by pushing them physically to their limits. Often with the desired result (especially for the parents), but the methods were extreme and controversial. Williams speaks with participants with varying experiences and one of the original counselors. Unfortunately, the lack of footage forces Williams to resort to talking heads in this engaging, yet formally routine, documentary.
