It seems as if Steffen & Flip have started experimenting. Never wrong, of course. In any case, learn from it that not everything they touch turns to gold. This film doesn't even come close to achieving bronze.

On to the next production!

The international adventure of director duo Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil turns out to be a disappointment, despite the fact that the concept is quite original. An escalating sitcom is fun and it is nice of the makers to place some Dutch actors in an international film, but ultimately the entire film never leaves its brakes. Intuitively, there is a long build-up to a completely crazy finale, which, however, is never convincingly presented. The ideas may be quite absurd, but the violence is soullessly depicted and never reaches the extreme level that is hinted at throughout the film. What is frustrating is the fact that Haars and Van der Kuil constantly give the impression that things really "take off" in an instant and always slow down quite abruptly. Nevertheless, as a production it has some decent jokes, excellent acting and sporadically funny ideas.

Much less bad than I expected. I went there because it is short and because sometimes (not too often) I enjoy films that I later consider worth no more than two stars. But this was quite doable.

For a moment I thought we were going to be watching a comedy series setting for the full hour and a half. Even at the time when those things were still popular and you had to turn to linear television for distraction, I found these types of series boring. But luckily Krazy House takes a crazy turn. At a certain point you no longer know whether you are watching a recording of a series or something that is really happening (within the film world).

The story is quite bland at times. Are we still doing the caricatures that are made of the Russians in 2024? And we've already had that Christian bashing (in this vulgar way) for about thirty years, right?

But nevertheless, I thought it was a very nice film. Now that I'm writing this I realize that I don't even know exactly why. I just had fun and wasn't annoyed much; I think that's it. Maybe I was just in a mild mood. Also fun sometimes.
