The history of 'The Birthday Party', an Australian punk group that was guided both in the studio and on stage by instinct and the emotion of the moment, often inspired by a combination of mind-expanding substances. The performances were notorious for their aggression and unpredictability, but to their own surprise the band became a sensation in the post-punk era. Bassist Tracy Pew died in 1986, the other band members tell their story based on archive footage in a documentary inspired by Julien Temple's The Filth And The Fury. Contains many unnecessary long fragments of live performances in which you wait in vain for a special moment. Since the music of 'The Birthday Party' is certainly not accessible to everyone, only die-hard fans of this band and of 'Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds', later founded by Nick Cave and Mick Harvey, will be enthusiastic about this.
