The first half hour of this science fiction thriller is quite catchy, because director James Croke does not make it entirely clear where the film is going. Conceptually, quite original angles are found and the main character of Sasha Luss fits perfectly into this world. It is excellent that Latency opens with a spectacular beginning, but the remainder of the sequel is significantly emptier. The second half relies too much on misplaced sentiment that mainly takes away the pace. Ultimately, the whole thing works towards a revelation that feels like a cop-out, especially because it is an easy solution to make your film land. It is at the expense of good acting as well as an above-average first half hour and that is always a shame in this kind of projects.

Beautiful images, although the setting in the apartment is a bit too static. And the idea is also quite nicely thought out, and it works better than I actually expected. Just like Luss is actually not too bad in her role, she certainly does this not bad.

As a horror it might be a bit mediocre - but I don't really like scary movies, especially not when you watch them in the dark. This is scary enough for me.
