Role Play is an unpleasant film. A film with Kaley Cuoco as an unlikely assassin in a plot that is dependent on poor creative input. The film reminded me of True Lies (1994) or La Totale! (1991) (if you like). Films with the same plot but with a male assassin. With that observation we immediately have the only original thing about Role Play. The assassin is not a man but a woman.

Role Play is further distinguished by its flat and uninteresting characters and by the routine way in which the genres of romance, action and comedy are handled. There is little or no convincing romance, real tension and successful comedy. The story is so thin that there was no room for a real dive into the genres or for depth in the characters. Role Play is an unnecessary film. I really don't understand why anyone thought this movie needed to be made.

Bill Nighy joins in. Incomprehensible. The good actor Nighy has a role that can be characterized as a pure waste of talent. As mentioned, Kaley Cuoco is participating. She is a mediocre actress. I had strong doubts in advance about the presence of her comedic talent and was strengthened in that expectation. Cuoco has no comedic talent whatsoever, I'm afraid. The only one who briefly made the corners of my mouth curl was David Oyelowo, who has some nice moments as an ignorant husband. It's very little to keep you entertained for a movie.

quite a good movie, but the genre says action/comedy, but I say little comedy and plenty of action.

good and fun story about a hitman who tries to have a "family" outside of her "work"

and suddenly gets into trouble because her "job" becomes known to her husband.

Together they try to find a solution, to put her past behind them.

and from now on to lead an ordinary family life.

On the day of their 7th wedding anniversary, Emma [Kaley Cuoco] and Dave [David Oyelowo] decide to celebrate with a role play. They meet in a hotel where they pretend they are meeting for the first time. But when the somewhat pushy Bob Kitterman [Bill Nighy] interrupts the date, an unforeseen rollercoaster ride begins that is due to the double life that Emma has managed to keep secret until that moment. The basic premise is certainly not original and Cuoco is not entirely credible. Oyelowo's role is better developed and he has many great moments in this predictable, light-hearted action thriller. But Bill Nighy steals it.
