The reasoning behind why a film like Freddy's Fridays suddenly appears on the screen in 2023 can of course already be guessed from the film success of Five Nights at Freddy's. What is equally obvious is that this rip-off was put together cheaply and cursorily. It is striking that in terms of concept it is quite its own thing, but the screenplay by Charlie & Tom Carter handles everything in a simple way. Danielle Scott's character is a walking cliché and the background looks infantile, only the animatronics themselves look reasonable. The observant viewer who likes B-movies may have noticed that one of those creatures is Humpty Dumpty. The murders are strikingly graphic and explicit, but the lead-up is particularly uninteresting. There is no tension, good plot twists and/or intriguing characters, which means that a film like this mainly looks nice but is a chore to get through.
