Bonhoeffer vs. the Third Reich plot
This film is based on the life story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his struggle against the Third Reich. Bonhoeffer is a German Lutheran pastor, theologian and anti-Nazi dissident who is a key founding member of the Confessing Church movement. In addition to his theological writings, Bonhoeffer is known for his fierce opposition to the Nazi dictatorship, including his outspoken opposition to Hitler's genocidal persecution of the Jews. He was arrested by the Gestapo in April 1943 and imprisoned for a year and a half in Tegel prison. Later he is transferred to Flossenbürg concentration camp where he is eventually hanged.
