Shashvi Shashvi Maq'vali plot

In a small traditional village in Georgia, 48-year-old unmarried Etero is the owner of a household goods store. She cherishes her freedom, just like her cakes, and prepares for a peaceful and comfortable retirement, far from the gossip. But a fiery affair with her delivery man could derail all her plans.

Etero [Eka Chavleishvili], the owner of a drugstore in a village in Georgia, loses her virginity at the age of 48 by supplier Murman [Temiko Chichinadze], and that gives her an alternative perspective on life. There is no further story and so Naveriani fills the time with few remarkable reflections on life. Due to the thin story, this quickly becomes boring. And I seriously doubt that the denouement will deliver the surprise Naveriani had in mind.

I enter every film with an open mind. I haven't read anything or seen a trailer, but I'm going by director or country, or by recommendations from people I like in this regard, without being allowed to tell me anything about the film.

Georgia was the keyword this time. Beautiful films come from it, but unfortunately: this one is a miss. Sympathetic, but oh so clumsily filmed and oh so woodenly acted. With every shot you hear the director shouting, as it were, 'Now look up' or 'Now laugh, no, not you but you, on the left of the table, and then you and then you'. Thus the coming-of-age of a 48-year-old woman continues, culminating in a conclusion that we see coming a mile away.

Shame.
