Randy Couture surprisingly plays a reasonable role here, partly because director Colton Tran knows exactly how to put him in the right character. For the longest time he just has to play an intimidating bully and fortunately he does that well, it is in any case more striking than the boring performances delivered by the other cast members. However, most of the positives are said with that, because the design as well as the content are messy and rushed. The tension never wants to release, the drama constantly gets in the way of the pace and when it comes to chopping, Tran delivers too tame work. If the film as a whole is still a bit unpredictable, The Bell Keeper could easily have joined the other cheap junk. To a certain extent it is still cheap junk, but not of the worst kind.
