In 2019, Naasón Joaquín García, leader of the Church of the Light of the World and self-proclaimed “apostle of Jesus Christ,” was arrested in the United States on 26 charges, including human trafficking, rape and child pornography. The news sparked a protracted battle between several whistleblowers seeking justice and a congregation that defended their leader tooth and nail. This documentary is a report produced by the members and former members of the church. For the first time, the testimonies of women who suffered in the name of faith will be heard. They leave behind what they believed and confront the powerful apostle and the church that once meant everything to them.
