I agree with most reviews on other sites, strong cast in a boring and long film that is not interesting...

You can see that the two protagonists are talented and visually it is more than sufficient, but then you have had enough of the positive points. The fact that it is pure science fiction could also have been a recommendation, but director Davis does not do enough with that approach, someone like Denis Villeneuve could probably have made something beautiful out of this story. Slowness can have a function in a film story, but because Foe cannot make a point for the rest (what would one actually want to tell with this story?) it does not get through in any way. In my youth it was not a recommendation if a film immediately arrived at the video store without a cinema release, but nowadays this also applies to streaming services. Extremely suitable as an alternative if the sleeping pill in the health insurance package is no longer available: it took me more than four hours to complete the 110 minutes.

The idea may be a bit on the absurd side, but in concept it is very strong - and based on the book of the same title by Iain Reid. However, it is told a bit too slowly, and the punch line may be too subtle to understand if you have not paid close attention or have read the book - or the summary on Wikipedia. The acting is super strong, especially by Ronan - and what a beautiful woman she has become - and the brown-yellow color grading also fits exactly to make her stand out as beautifully as possible. Beautiful cinematography too, and the images of the open and empty landscape are also particularly beautiful.

It is understandable that the film has not been received too positively, you have to want to go along with the story and put enough effort into following it. Perhaps just too Cruyffian in the subtlety of the narrative. And maybe you just have to be in the mood for it, but apparently I was.
