The Kitchen plot

London, the year 2040. Rising house prices, automated labor and the eradication of the welfare state have turned the city into a playground for billionaires. This drives the lower classes into provincial vacant slums, such as the Kitchen. Izi, a former burglar, is desperate to stay on the straight and narrow. But when his young son contracts a devastating illness, he is forced to take part in a heist that will change the lives of everyone in the Kitchen forever.

I'm less enthusiastic. Very mediocre film that gets stuck in good intentions. About halfway through I wondered when it was going to kick off, but it never did. I also expected the dystopian world to be more intense. Even more of a battle between the rich and the renegades in The Kitchen neighborhood.

The film focuses more on the drama part than action or spectacle, but it was not very deep. It felt quite soft. That little one didn't realize who he was hanging out with until the very end, duh.

The setting was reasonable without being spectacular. Some futuristic things here and there, but they were limited, but that in itself did not bother me. The plant thing is bizarre, a somewhat ecological idea, but OK. The acting was OK, but the characters didn't really come into their own.

Weird, slow movie set in the very near future.

A man takes care of a little boy.

The film is boring and chaotic.

The only "fun" action moments are the recurring scenes of cops who want to clear a squatted apartment building.

Unfortunately, another film that is not worth watching.

This dystopian SF drama is not bad, but the tone and pace are very unbalanced and the focus is very much on drama. An exciting finale could have saved the day, but unfortunately the film fizzles out. However, the acting is excellent and visually the film is quite impressive at times.
