I had a hard time getting through this. A terribly frustrating film with only people ranging from very unsympathetic to downright assholes. I can't understand that a whole group of people are laughing at someone getting raped, and that you as a rape victim also fall in love with this creep. At many points I just didn't want to watch it anymore.

In a way fine. I do wonder: is this a good picture of the youth in Ukraine at that time or was this for only a small part of the population. The bit of crime that comes with it also feels a bit too much. Everything is very sad and gray while that time was also one of new freedom. Although the picture seems credible, I doubt whether this is a good picture of the time.

Nevertheless, what we do get is fine. A decent sketch of a group of people where there is still some vague love but who are numbed by society and cannot show it. At most brothers and sisters among themselves, but friendships do not exist. A package of scrap but a very thin layer of chrome then.

Visually quite nice. Sometimes great shots of those gray apartment buildings. For example when the camera zooms out and the main character disappears completely in that immense environment. But also at the pool where she is small compared to a monstrously large mosaic. 3.5*.

The hazy adventures of a group of teenagers in Ukraine at the end of the 20th century. Tonia [Alina Cheban] is transferred to a new school where she is let in by creep Dzhura [Zachary Shadrin]. She befriends classmate Lera [Yelyzaveta Tsilyk] and meets Lera's brother Sania [Arthur Aliiev]. Tonia has a crush on Dzhura, Sania on Dzhura, and Lera's friend Ira [Dasha Zhykharska] has a crush on Sania. What follows is an extremely messy mix of sex, humiliation and fights. Badly written, but generally well acted by the young cast with Tsilyk as the standout.
