Entertainingly shot, but messily worked out by screenwriter and director Uwe Boll. Nevertheless, First Shift is a remarkably patient and entertainingly put together film for its part, in which the concept in particular comes across as interesting. In principle, it is reminiscent of a less gray and somewhat more tame version of Crown Vic, in which we as viewers witness two agents fulfilling their duty. However, the duo in question does not experience very interesting things and the somewhat grander events actually have nothing to do with the main characters. Boll barely brings together a lot of different angles and that leaves a somewhat lazy impression, and in addition, there is simply too little happening. Fortunately, Gino Anthony Pesi and Kristen Renton do a nice job, but it has been a while since Boll really scored again.
