The Hill plot
"Never give up hope."
In the 1970s, young Rickey Hill grows up impoverished in a small Texas town. He displays extraordinary skill in hitting a baseball, despite the fact that he is weighed down by leg braces due to a degenerative spinal disease. His strict, pastoral father James discourages Rickey from playing baseball so he doesn't get injured and become a preacher like his father. However, as a young man, Rickey becomes a baseball phenomenon. His desire to participate in a tryout for a legendary baseball team divides the family and threatens Rickey's dream of playing professional baseball. Ricket, on the other hand, will never give up on his dream.

Extremely hackneyed biography of Rickey Hill [Colin Ford], the son of an itinerant pastor James Hill [Dennis Quaid], who, despite being predicted at birth never to walk without support, dreams of a career as a major league hitter . As a child [Jesse Berry], he receives support from his brother [Mason Gilett] and sister [Hailey Bithell]. James wants Rickey to follow in his footsteps. The screenplay avoids any cliché and Celentano ensures that there are no surprises. Yet the story is true to the facts, although it is to be hoped that the dialogues are not. Then Rickey Hill would be a walking cliché. Not that he will be sad about that, by the way.
