A documentary about a filmmaker. Always make time for it.
A director who always put a personal rationale into his films or went back to historical events and who was especially successful with his first films: "Hiroshima mon amour", "L'année dernière à Marienbad" ... but over his entire career nevertheless a became a highly regarded film icon.
The documentary deals with his private life, contains many testimonials about the man's working method, but there are hardly any fragments from his films. A pity really, because they could just as well have illustrated the testimonials.
