Outpost plot

After a violent assault, Kate turns to her best friend Nickie for help escaping an abusive ex-boyfriend. Nickie's brother Earl hires Kate as a fire watch in northern Idaho. Kate thinks the peaceful solitude will help. But the trauma and isolation have other plans. She meets Reggie, a moody widow, and Dan, a strange colleague. Kate's brutal past sows paranoia and her grip on reality loosens.

Director Joe Lo Truglio probably directed a small project on the sidelines to stimulate his creativity and appoints his own wife Beth Dover for the leading role. Although the concept is nicely conceived, it is developed in an unreasonably boring way within Outpost. The story flows along without any sense of threat or atmosphere and the situations in which Dover ends up are anything but fascinating. In addition, Lo Truglio apparently finds it necessary to mix a lot of drama into the whole, but does not want to achieve any kind of depth. It all remains very superficial and does not convince on any (horror) level, only the finale provides some life. So a low figure seems justified to me.
