French director Xavier Gens shows himself to be very skilled with a film like Farang, as is evident from the tightly designed brawls and unrestrained violence. A film like this is quite rare these days, even though the content is still so exhaustive. Not often does a whole like this have to rely on the dramatic side, but a considerable part is still spent on it. The first half tends to be a let down at times, but once Gens increases the pace in the second half, the complaints disappear like snow in the sun. Nassim Lyes has a wonderfully dangerous appearance, both the subdued and hard sides of his character are perfectly portrayed. The other characters may lack some idiosyncrasy, but they act equally well. What is particularly striking is the brutality of the film. The camera movements are agile, the layout effects above average and the editing exceptional, which maximize the impact of such a fight, for example. The content is as simple as it can be, but once we join forces, this is quickly forgotten. Nice popcorn entertainment.

Very good for a French action film... Reminds me of those Indonesian hard action films with Iko Uwais... The direction is very careful and the exotic and somewhat decadent atmosphere of Thailand provides added value. To my surprise, the hard-hitting action scenes looked great. For the rest, predictability is an asset because the story has already been told dozens of times. Definitely recommended for those who like very hard and bloody action.
