Eureka plot

Murphy goes looking for his daughter after she is kidnapped by the bandit Randall. He moves to a town on the US-Mexico border where there are no laws in 1870. Armed to the teeth, he will take on the outlaw. In the Amazon rainforest, Ubirajara sets out to look for gold.

Everything that's wrong with modern arthouse cinema comes together in this pretentious horror. The 20-minute prologue is a terribly slow western in which Murphy [Viggo Mortensen] is looking for his daughter and rents a room in a troubled town. A completely pointless sequence that gives us a big middle finger to the viewer to the story of officer Alaina [Alaina Clifford] and social worker Sadie [Sadie LaPointe], who let us experience how depressing, monotonous and boring life in the Pine Ridge Reservation is. Finally we arrive at native gold seekers, who hang around a waterfall and talk about what they dreamed last night. Contains a 5-minute scene in which Sadie (after a difficult conversation with her grandfather) just drinks coffee for 5 minutes, looking wistfully into the distance. There are two brief bursts of violence, but they come out of nowhere and don't really add anything at all. Film as a sleeping aid.
