Kubi plot

In a temple in Kyoto in the year 1582 is the famous warlord Oda Nobunaga. He will die there as a result of a rebellion that may or may not be the work of his vassal. His death will be avenged. Beat Takeshi/Takeshi Kitano follows in the footsteps of Akira Kurosawa with this samurai film set in the Tianjin province in the year 1596. The attention to detail and the sometimes breathtaking action scenes - including very convincing beheadings - make this resemble genre classics like Kagemusha and Ran. At the center is the battle between the self-righteous ruler Oda Nobunaga [Ryô Kasa] and rebel leader Murashige Araki [Ken'ichi Endô], who disappeared without a trace after a battle. A look of characters is opened, including Hideyoshi Hashiba [Takeshi Kitano] and rice farmer Mosuke [Shidô Nakamura]. Kitano is captivated by an abundance of characters and events, which quickly made me lose the thread. Those who are familiar with this chapter of history will have less difficulty with it, for others this will be a frustrating experience, even though Kitano adds a few remarkable elements to the historiography, including a sardonic sense of humor.
