De Dans van Natasja plot

Natasja's dance is about loneliness and tells the love story between the eccentric, unworldly Daantje and the life-drawn Russian dancer Natasja: an impossible love between two opposing characters with two completely different backgrounds. A light-hearted mosaic of events shows their fateful connection and the sense and nonsense of life.

Jos Stelling is one of the greats of our country's history and once again shows his craftsmanship in the visual field. There is little to criticize about the visual direction and the camera work by Goert Giltay (The Flying Dutchman, Bluebird, A Real Vermeer) is beautiful. But comedy is clearly not Stelling's specialty, as this unbalanced, sometimes downright bizarre attempt at tragicomedy shows. Daantje [Bram Reurink] is the child of a patient, caring mother [Hadewych Minis] and an eccentric, demanding father [Gene Bervoets]. Daantje is “different”, which is reflected, among other things, in his silence. The adult Daantje [Willem Voogd] follows the Russian Natasja [Anastasia Weinmar] for vague reasons on a long train journey to her birthplace in Russia. A vague story and Stelling's poor comic timing mainly causes confusion.
