Bodem in Beweging plot

Portrait of the Groningen village of Overschild, the first village to be almost completely demolished and rebuilt because of the earthquakes. At least that is the intention, but gradually the rules of the game change and the insecurity of the inhabitants increases. Two worlds rub against each other painfully in this documentary: that of directors and CEOs who fail to keep their promises, and that of the inhabitants of a small village who groan under the physical and mental consequences of the metamorphosis. Who will get off 'well' with new construction and who will be left behind if NAM and governments turn out to be unreliable partners?

Another beautiful documentary by HUMAN that sheds a different light on the aftermath of the earthquakes in Groningen. Jeulink and Vlaander focused on the village of Overschild, located between Groningen and Appingedam and one of the many communities that have been literally and figuratively destroyed by the consequences of the gas drilling in the area. Some houses are being renovated, but the majority of the houses are flattened and as a result almost nothing remains of the original village. Uncertainty and ambiguity about handling, vague and unfulfilled promises leave deep traces. Then try to keep it dry when the testimonies of victims such as Sijbrand Nijhoff and Frouke Postma-Doornbos pass before the parliamentary committee. And do your best to contain your anger when Shell foreman Ben van Beurden and NAM director Bart van de Leemput have their say. A worthy monument for the Groningen victims that should be cherished as a historical document.
