Actually the first film I have seen where walking the Camino is approached in a somewhat honest way. Whether or not you do it for religious or other reasons, it's about something for most runners, and if you can't respect that, maybe you'd better run to the moon or something.

The story of Ćurčić and Brygmann as daughter and father is quite convincing, and the developments in their relationship during the walk are fortunately not as cliché as you would expect. That also makes the film really worth seeing.

It's a shame that there isn't much that is exciting cinematographically and also in terms of landscapes. After the script, the budget apparently just ran out a bit. And it is equally strange to hear one of Hazes' hits in the credits - but ah, the original was written by someone else.

With your autistic father who is good at sending but doesn't know how to receive while you yourself have just been impregnated by a man who is unfortunately already taken, I'll leave it to you.

For a moment, the relationship between father and daughter reaches Bergmanian heights, only to fortunately quickly fall back to our everyday social media nonsense. Gosh, you're having a baby, how your mother would have loved that, right after abortion seems like the best option to him. Because a woman alone. Of that level. Sigh.

I'll leave the improbable walking out of consideration. The small backpack offers space for a complete wardrobe, it turns out, even changing outfits several times a day and sandals are the solution in the mountains. Wouldn't try it.

There are also moments of recognition. Woemi recognizes me in the father, what a compliment, and when mother does appear I have to think of Anneke who had put her Djovan in a bidon to smuggle safely back to his birthplace.

Such a moment is funny and also touching.

Three stars.
