Elaha plot
Elaha is 22 years old. She feels she must reestablish her supposed innocence before she gets married. A surgeon could reconstruct her hymen, but she cannot afford such an operation. She wonders: why does she have to be a virgin, and for whom?

It is not the first time that I have noticed through a film that Muslim youth clash enormously with traditional Muslim culture and the Western society in which they grow up. It goes beyond the mere generation gap between (grand)parents and their children because those religious and cultural values provide an extra loaded pigment.
So also Elaha, a pretty young Muslim girl who has to repair her hymen before she gets married to her boyfriend. Interesting to see what the family expects of her and how they dent her. There are no margins and nuances. The film is not always balanced, but still gives a good view of the event.
Further on level concerning acting and camera handling. Not top, but certainly more than decent.
