De Man uit Rome plot
The skeptical research priest Filippo comes to a Limburg border village on behalf of the Vatican to examine a weeping statue of the Virgin Mary. Determined to expose the statue, he stumbles upon the grim village community, who prove deeply traumatized and cling to their miracle. Attracted and disturbed by the silent Térèse who discovered the tears, Filippo becomes embroiled in the sadness of the village and in a series of apparently miraculous events that undermine his certainties about his vocation as a priest and as a human being.
